I recently embarked on closing the pool for the first time this weekend. The job was not that hard but having a few key items was largely attributed to the ease of the close.

First off a cartridge based filter system is the way to go! Hook up a pump, and a cartridge and you are on your way to an easily maintainable pool system. It also makes closing a snap. If you have a large amount of leaves and algae in the pool I would probably shock that bad boy before you close. This will prevent you from opening the pool next session to a nice green water situation. In addition, I found these great 'Old man winter' winterizer orbs that you run in your skimmer for 8 - 12 hours. This helps prevent algae build up during the cold session.

Another item that really saved me some time and were cheap to boot were cover snaps for the pool cover. This is used instead of using a cable around the whole pool to secure the cover. This enabled me to easily pull the cover over the pool without the constraints of a cable pulling it down into the water. Once the cover was in place snap these on and I was good to go.

Now the real test will be whether I open next session to green water or not.

Hello home ownership

Hello and welcome to Home Owners magazine. This is a magazine dedicated to content about owning a home. The topics discussed will cover a wide range of issues and was spawned out of the fact that I recently purchased my first home not too long ago. As a result, I am finding that I am learning many new terms and facing many new problems that others may find helpful or pose interesting solutions to if I document them in fun to read articles within this online magazine.

If you are an indivdual who thinks they can contribute to the content in this magazine I would be interested in openning up authorship to fellow home owners.
